AW23 LOOKBOOK
“When the world feels heavy and complicated, I guess we want to be able to take off to a lighter state of mind. We long for a feeling of being able to breathe and feel carefree again. And taking off, literally flying and escaping, feels so beautiful and fascinating to me.”
– Liisa Kessler, Filippa K Creative Director

Autumn/Winter 2023 explores freedom and lightness – feelings rooted in Filippa K’s DNA since 1993. Werner Herzog’s 1974 documentary The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner, a profile on Swiss ski jumper Walter Steiner, serves as the starting point for the collection. A sense of solitude is one that defines the film; it seems that only when he is in the air, travelling with poise and a singular focus, that he appears to be free.
Amid the rigours of daily life and the unfolding anxieties of recent years, Creative Director Liisa Kessler zeroed in on Steiner’s own small moments of liberation. In the ski jumper’s unbending will and physique, his body a symbol of strength and a disavowal of fear, he offers a path through.

The Autumn/Winter 2023 collection features monochrome silhouettes in 70s-inspired fabrics filtered through a minimalist 90s lens, and a glacial palette with bold pops of colour that reference vintage skiwear. Creative Director Liisa Kessler continues to reinterpret and revive the codes of the house, with a focus on returning to the attitude that defined its 90s and early aughts campaigns.
The AW23 womenswear and menswear collections will begin arriving in stores and online from July 2023.
